2017 Autumn Night
I hope you had the chance to make the most of the beautiful weather over the long weekend. Yesterday’s public holiday could not have come at a better time for all of us as it has been a hectic (in a good way) start to the year and a bit of a chance to draw breath.
It has been terrific to see so many of you coming along to the various ‘Get to Know You’ events over the past few weeks.
A big thank you to our Class Social Reps for making these happen. You have done a brilliant job of pulling these together and giving others a chance to meet new faces and break the proverbial ice.
If you couldn’t get to the first catch up, don’t despair, there will be more chances to meet the other parents as the year rolls on and I understand planning is already underway for follow up events.
Thanks, also to those who have volunteered for other duties, such as the canteen and the second hand uniform shop.
We have some fun things coming up over the next four weeks that may be of interest.
Firstly, there is the Year 7 Parents drinks night this Saturday 18th March. The long-range weather forecast tells us it's going to be a beautiful night, which means we will have the sliding doors open in the Functions Room and you will be able to stand out on the deck overlooking the peaceful surrounds of the playing fields whist enjoying a relaxing drink (and food) and mingling with the other parents. The iPod will be loaded with over 35 music too btw.
Book the babysitter now! Bookings here.
Then a week later March 25, we are hosting Autumn Night - a gala Foundation Fundraiser night at the Carlton Brewhouse in Abbotsford. This promises to be a great night too - dancing with live music, entertainment with Comedian Dave O’Neil and some great prizes on offer at auction. Proceeds of the night go to the St Marcellin Champganat Bursary Fund. Ladies, don’t wait for the guys to ‘get around to booking a ticket’, there is live music and dancing and an excuse to wear that favourite outfit - enough said. Tell him he is coming! Bookings here.
The Canterbury Roaders luncheon is NOT an event for our newest families to the College, but I thought you might like this little tidbit - at this luncheon we host the earliest of our Marcellin students, including many of those who walked into the College on the first day in February, 1950. It is a beautiful and uplifting event.
The inaugural Siena/Marcellin Fun Run is being hosted at Marcellin on April 23. There will be a 4km run/walk an 8km run and a colour run. All are welcome, including siblings and friends. More information and bookings here.
Any inquires to Prue or Lisa in the Foundation Office.
