Autumn Night Thank You

This is just a very quick thank you for your support last Saturday night. I hope you enjoyed the evening. It was great to speak to so many people (in between taking the happy snaps) and putting faces to names.

Prue and Lisa did a power of work to get us there on Saturday night and I want to thank them especially. When we sat down together on Monday morning to do the obligatory post-mortem we thought we would ask everyone to give us any feedback from the night - things that worked (or didn’t) and any suggestions. If you have a few minutes to shoot back a return email, that would be appreciated.

The net proceeds from the night were just over $7,000. This money has gone to the St Marcellin Champagnat Bursary Fund. This fund supports those families in our school who are the most financially disadvantaged and to families in our immediate community who would otherwise not be able to afford to send their son’s to the College.

Thank you for your generosity!

Here is the link to the happy snaps.

And finally, I made one significant faux pas on Saturday night when I was talking about one of Foundation students and his connection with Hawthorn. Ian Mort (featured in that pop-up banner photo) was the first Marcellin boy to go on to play (then) VFL Football. And he played in Hawthorn’s first premiership in 1961. He was in fact NOT the captain - that distinction belongs to Graham Arthur. One of Graham’s daughters (and past Marcellin mum), Marise Cooper was a guest also on Saturday night. I wish I could claim that I had drunk too much of the brewers product, but instead it was a serious brain fade. But I can advise that Ian Mort holds one other important distinction; he was the first Old Collegian to enrol a son at Marcellin.

Kind Regards
